Set on a narrow, wooded peninsula on the lake, our Waypoint project replaces an existing 1930s cabin with a modern family retreat rooted in the landscape. The design prioritizes preservation, maintaining existing trees and working within the natural constraints of the site.
The new entry drive is designed to create a clear and intentional arrival sequence, weaving through the existing woods while preserving signature trees. As you approach, views are selectively framed - first to the landscape, then to the cabin and lake beyond. The experience is measured and calm, guiding visitors to a simple, well-defined entry that connects seamlessly to the home and surrounding outdoor spaces.
The landscape design reinforces the existing woodland through native plantings while minimizing lawn and maintenance requirements. Materials are selected to blend with the surrounding landscape, allowing the cabin and site to read as one. The result is a quiet, enduring landscape that preserves the character of the peninsula while supporting long-term use. Set at the crest, the home acts as a subtle beacon, welcoming visitors and anchoring the site for generations to come.
